Default C3 Tires

I've been looking throught the wheels/tires forum and most coversations seem to center around C4/5s...

It's time to replace my C3s tires for the first time and was just wondering what ya'll do...do you drive down to your local Goodyear retail outlet?
Do you order off the internet and find an installer?
If you get them off the internet, where are some good places to look?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I am looking for a set of tires for my 73...225/70/15. I want a raised white letter and I think I have it narrowed to Goodyear Eagle GT II's or Dunlop GT Qualifiers...prices vary all over the place...tirerack.com has about the best price, but then you have to add shipping and mpounting and balancing. A couple of tire stores I talked to said they wanted as much as $30 each to mount and balance someopne else's tire...NTB is not too bad...about $380 a set for BF Goodrich radial TA

Autotire wants $320 for Tiger Paw GTS's...might do that, as they look nice. Let me know if you come across a great deal...

:iagree:

Local installer admits he can't match the Tire Rack price but puts them on for $10/wheel. Tire Rack will identify local installers for you.

I just put on Firestone Indy 500 P255/60/15 (rear) and P235/60/15 (front)

I went with Tirerack for tires for both my C3 and C5. Excellent prices and will drop ship anywhere you want. :yesnod:

Thanks guys...looks like I'll end up going with a local retail supplier...after checking installation prices, shipping prices, and local taxes...sometimes it's the same...and sometimes it's more from tirerack...I can get BFG for $90/tire installed inc tax and all locally (in stock)...and if I want roadhazard it's a lot easier to have the dealer at hand...
Thanks!!...who'da thought!?!

I also need tires, cords are starting to show on the inside. I didn't notice this until I was changing the fron sway bar links. I spent a few hours over the course of a few days looking on the web at places like tirerack. I also found local dealers who were in the same ball park. Since the tires need to get replaced ASAP I called a local place (also had a web site where I got the price) and they wanted to charge for shipping them in making them one of the more expensive places. Later that day a person comes into my computer store looking to sell memberships to Costco's. They were here a couple of years ago and I threw the info out. So while he was here I asked what brand tires they sold. B F Goodrich was one the list. Costco's is a warehouse club like Sam's or BJ's. I signed up for the membership and went over that night. Unfortunately they didn't have the 255/60/15 in stock. Their price was lower than Tirerack by a little. I was told to order them off the web and they would ship them to the store. There is no additional shipping charge, it is included with the price. Price of the tires are $73 each. Balancing, mounting, and disposal of the old tires is about $10 a piece.
I felt good about doing it this way. I'm sure tire stores do not like it when you buy tires elsewhere and then take it to them for mounting.
Another place that always shocks me for pricing is the local Goodyear store. For some reason I got it in my mind that they are going to be more expensive because of the big Goodyear sign out front. That has turned out to be wrong every time I needed Goodyear tires. They always turned out to be less than tirerack. I am not so sure why everyone thinks tirerack is so great. The thing they got going for themselves is the vast choices. Now perhaps on different tires, ones that I don't need/fit, their pricing is better. I prefer to try and buy locally and support local businesses. Although Costco's is a large company, they are local in my area and employee local people.

I went to tire rack, and since we live in chicago we drove down to their warehouse in indiana, that place is HUGE, if you have a friend that has an account with them, like a body shop, or gas station, you can save LOTS OF MONEY, we got two brand new yokohoma tires (extra wide and look badass) for $50 each.
