LT1 engine specs
Can someone provide me with some details on the '70-'72 LT-1 engine, i.e. cam, intake casting #, carb, heads, compression ratio, etc.? I have an alleged LT-1 intake, and am curious about how GM designed this engine.

Re: LT1 engine specs (1SGRET)
thanks. that helped some, but I still have some questions.
Is the solid lifter cam in the LT-1 the same as the infamous Duntov 30-30?
Also, what's the casting # on the alum. intake?

Re: LT1 engine specs (Jeff 6T9)
I don't think so, but I've been wrong before (imagine that!)
Here are some comprehensive cam specs: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/D...00/cmspec.html
Interestingly, the cam that would currently be in your car (350/300) is the same as the L48 cam. The L82 cam is the same one used in the 350/350 engine from your car's era.

No, the LT-1 camshaft and the "30-30" camshaft are not the same... And for that matter, the "30-30" and Duntov camshaft are different as well.
Also, what's the casting # on the alum. intake?

Re: LT1 engine specs (Rowdy Rat)
thanks all. the cam spec website is just what I was looking for.
thanks rowdy rat for clarifying the other cam info too. I'll double check the casting number on the intake I've got and see if it's what I thought.

With regard to Mike Cobine's camshaft information that you referenced, 3736097 is the "Duntov" cam, 3849346 is the "30-30", and 3972178 is the "LT-1".
Very nice '69 in your signature... Always liked Lemans blue!

Re: LT1 engine specs (Rowdy Rat)
thanks for the help. I am considering making my car a 350 horse clone or possibly a "phantom" '69 LT-1. Thanks for the compliment, too. It looks a little different right now.

Re: LT1 engine specs (Smitty's75)
Why would you use an old GM grind cam. The new cams are much better in the ramp design and put out more power. The GM cams are not bad but there are much better grinds out there. Even the LT1 cam is old design. Low lift long duration. I replaced my LT1 cam and the Comp Cams one I put in has a lot more power tha nthe LT1 grind. Go with a modern cam you will be much happier and noone will ever know wah tis inside the motor.

Re: LT1 engine specs (Jeff 6T9)
I have built a ’69 LT-1 clone. Have the top parts off a ’70. Also changed out the tach. Bottom is a 383 but with hydraulic lifters. If I recall, no auto’s and no air in 70 & 71. Car kicks azz. The parts are out there. New carbs about $450.
Can help if you need.
