rear end differences/454 question
I have a 71 LS5 Corvette 4 speed with the original 3.08 gears. How much difference will changing to 3.36 or 3.55 gears make with regard to performance and fuel consumption?
Does anyone know the component differences between the LS5 and LS6? Like a lineup of specs between the two. Heads, cams (lifts, etc), carbueration? I am thinking of turning mine into a LS6.

Re: rear end differences/454 question (jimtreber)
jimtreber, I hope you don't mind me interjecting a question in here, but what was (is) the traction like with your '71 and the 454 -3.70 rear combo? I've got my '80 in the garage in which I plan to put in a new motor. I've considered ZZ4's, 383's (nuclear reactors, jet engines), and maybe a 454. One of the many detractors I've spoken to told me my 3.73 with auto trans and a 454 (about 440HP) would be a meaningless execrcise in futility when it comes to traction. I don't plan to race much, it would just be kind of neat to have something different under the hood- big block, especially for my year. Thanks.
