Rubbing 225/70/15 Firestone tires -- Left front fender 1978
Just replace a set of Firestone GR70-15 tires (over 20 years old) but tread looked brand new. Tire Rack and all others recommended 225/70/15 for a replacement tire. Left (out side) edge of front left tire rubs slightly on lip of fender. Only happens in sharper right hand turns at low speeds. Tire hits fender at the 9 o-clock position of the tire. I have exhausted all ideas on my end. I really don't want to trim the fiberglass. Car is an original 25th anniversary, two tone silver, with 23k original miles.
Does not appear to be any room to adjust the fender forward. Alignment is good.
Any ideas out there?

My 77 does the same thing. My mechanic suggested that it's time to change the springs and shocks. I can see and understand that with how much my car has been driven...I plan on going to the step up from the F-41 for mine when it's time...

The 225/70/15 is the corect replacement. I have them on the 78 and 75 and have lots of clearence. :iagree: with Aflac it might be time for front coils. What is your front ride height?

Not to scare you, but my right front tire started rubbing, and upon further inspection I saw this:

Do you have the factory rims on the car. When I bought mine it had aluminum wheels on it and I had the same problem. When I put the factory Rally's on I had about a 1/2 inch of clearence and I'm running 255/60-15. I guess what I'm getting at is you may want to check the back spacing on the rims I believe it should be 4 inches.
