Default Ten Commandments For Corvette Ownership

These were brought down from Mt. GM, and set forth by Zora in ancient times. Most of you old war horses abide by these commandments, but since there are so many new guys around here, I felt compelled to post these again.

Ten Commandments For Corvette Ownership

Thou shalt not loan thy Corvette to anyone
Thou shalt not bring thy Corvette to an automatic car wash
Thou shalt not fail to wave to a fellow Corvette owner
Thop shalt not swear at thy Corvette for it is very tempermental
Thou shalt not cruise on unpaved roads
Thou shalt not pass a fellow Corvette owner in distress
Thou shalt not feed thy Corvette budget grade fuel
Thou shalt not expose thy Corvette to severe weather conditions
Thou shalt not forget to activate the alarm system
Thou shalt not acknowledge a Ricer as being a true sports car

So let it be written...so let it be done

:seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya

Thou shall not say falsely that another U.S. car is a sports car.

Thou shall not restore a Corvette to look like it just came from GM - strive to make it better.

Hey, I like everyone of them except the last one. I have an Import and I have work done to it, I take it to the strip and I do show it off, I take as much care of it as I would the vette and the quality of parts that go on it are the best. Nissan has great motors, from KA24DE to the SR20DE and to the QR25DE (except for the rods on that sukka!! wohoo thin baby!! :D ) But now there is those ricer's out there though, that have the high stacked aluminum GT wings on a front wheel drive car that doesnt need the down force with the APC euro tail lights, the big can exhaust on a 1.8liter honda civic. It just ruins it for the quality cars!

Hey there! Welcome to the forum!

By now I'm sure you've noticed some people get a little jumpy when someone says they own/work on an import. Not all of us are though. Personally I use the term "ricer" in a negative way to describe the guys with wings and fart cans and no clue about how their motor even works... not as an all purpose term for imports. To me, a car guy is a car guy. You obviously have an open mind with a 'Vette and an import and that's a welcome thing.

Thou shalt not bring thy Corvette to an automatic car wash
Had to take it to a brushless high pressure automatic car wash twice. Once because I had unknowingly traveled over a salted road in the mountains while on a Vette cruise. This particular wash had a high pressure undercarriage washing feature, so I felt it could clean more thoroughly than I could trying to hold a garden hose under there. The next time was when I had an accidental gasoline spill all over my quarter panel. Had to get it off. There were NO brushes involved, so I have no guilt having used this wash for the reasons I did.
Thop shalt not swear at thy Corvette for it is very tempermental
When it deserves a good cussing out, it will get one. :cuss
Thou shalt not cruise on unpaved roads
 If you all knew how many times I took a C5 down a rough dusty dirt road at 50 MPH you all would have a fit! I also hit like foot deep steel lined pot holes with all four wheels over and over, and drove over cobblestone block roads. :lolg: No, it was not my Vette. It was GM's Vette :chevy I was a durability test driver for GM at their Desert Proving Grounds. Yea, I got to do things to Vettes most enthusiasts would have a heart attack over, yet at the same time I also got to spent 8 hour shifts doing nothing but high speed schedules on their 5 mile circle track, and 0-80 MPG W.O.T. sprints on their straightaway track.
Thou shalt not pass a fellow Corvette owner in distress
I never have, but it's happened to me.
Thou shalt not feed thy Corvette budget grade fuel
I'm not paying Mobil or Texaco's price for premium when it's way cheaper at Costco. Not when my car gets 7 MPG and the engine is worn out.
Thou shalt not forget to activate the alarm system
What alarm? That P.O.S. GM put in the car? That thing probably has not worked in MANY years. I don't leave the car unattended.
Thou shalt not acknowledge a Ricer as being a true sports car
I take care of rice at the track: http://www.arizonavette.net/ace/even...cing/DanW2.AVI In this case it was a "riced" Cavalier with a big wing. My car was running poorly and I smoked his sorry sport compact azz by about two secs.
