I need help with a Cam Thrust Bearing and Plate question
I'm looking at my Block tonight (427) and making a shopping list of item to order for the build up and see 2 bolt holes where the cam goes in. I have looked at all my book both new and old, GM microfitch, and the internet and can't find a picture or part number of what I need or what goes there. The closest thing I have found is Comp Cam P/N 203 that is a Thrust plate and bearing kit. Is this what I need?
While were on the subject of parts, I also can not find a P/N or listing for the oil filter mount (part the oil filter screws onto) that bolts up in the oil filter boss on the engine. Any ideas?
Thanks

That's for a cam thrust plate which you are not using so the holes are unused. My 454 has the same holes. Read somewhere they used a plate on marine motors, but can't confirm that.

Some say you need em some don't I think they are also called block protectors. Cams will wear the front of the block in this area. I am going to put one on my new motor.
SOme others might have have an opinion of whether you need one or not depending on type of cam etc. :D
