Iknow this is not only not s corvette but its a dreaded Ford ...howeever,..this girl is really cool and her 1990 (she thinks its a V6) mustang wont go into reverse. She also says the car used to leak tranny fluid. I am trying to giver her some advice ( such as getting some kind of Chevy if not a vette) but she needs to some mechanical help for thew Stang ASAP. Sher seems really upset. I know ther at least used to be forum members whom have owned Fords Can any of you more experienced car guys help out!?!?

Thanks for responding. Thruth is the more i speqk to her the more i realize she just let the transmission get damaged by its most dreaded enemy,...heat! She aparently had a tranny fluid leak for months. She never had it fixed but did try to refill it once she knew it was low. She said she could hear the tranny making noise (slipping) for a week or two before the car wasn't able to go into reverse. And now it sits and wont go into reverse. She's one of those girls that knows very little to nothing about cars. She may need a complete rebuild for her tranny becuase I can assume the fluid simply got way way to low and damaged her clutch.

When my auto tranny died (Chevy Astro Van), it would only operate in reverse. Any forward gear would just whine. Pay to have her car towed to the transmission shop and offer to pay for the repair. Then, while she's waiting at your place for the car to be fixed... :smash:

just tell her that ford means: found on road dead, and that hers is half way there and that she should just get an old vette.

Since it's a Mustang, and even worse it's a FORD - just junk it.

You can try 2 qts. of Lucas trans fluid and top it with dextron +4 if it will work
at all it may last till she can save money for rebuild :cry
