This happened last summer while I was cleaning the door locking mechanisms and such. Any way the phone number is from a town about 5 miles from where I live. I bought the car from a small town about 50 miles from where I live. The previous owner said he had the car for about 12 years.

If you found an old for sale sign, would you be tempted to call the number and ask about the corvette? I have thought about asking just to get some history on the car. What do you think?

call the number and tell us what happen. the worse thing could happen is the owner of the car could have moved, and then the poerson it the house could cus you out :D

I'd do it in a heartbeat. For one thing, the guy might still have some of the original paperwork lying around somewhere, maybe even the POP.

i remember my first car (the one before what i drive now lol) me and my dad were looking over it before we bought it and found a business card in the trunk. we decided to call it and ask about the car just out of curiosity, so we did and found out that it was my old guitar teacher's wife's business card. he told us that it was his wife's old car and that they had kept it in great shape (as it was) and it was driven by his wife (good thing considering it was a manual). i thought that was kinda neat. but anyhow, yeah give em a call, im sure they wouldnt mind.

Go for it!! Worst that could happen? Let's see.... the guy had the vette out on his front lawn with the "FOR SALE" sign on the window, and he looked out his window...... and it was GONE!! :eek: Hey, thanks for finding it! :) When can he come by and pick it up?? :lol: MJ

Thats crazy that you say that because I was pulling my power window motor from my door and I found a for sale sign in my door too. I am going to look up the number on it and see if it is the number of the person I bought it from or someone else.

I found a recpeit that was 3 years old under the battery in mine, it was for the battery, and had the customers phone number on it. The PO had only had it for 2 years
called the guy next day and asked him about what he knew of its history, as far as we could tell im 6th owner, at least, and atleast for 4 of them, it was our first vette :thumbs:

Yes, call the number. Anybody that has owned a vette should appreciate passing on any information about their baby to the next owner.

:iagree: with the "go ahead and call" part, but be very forgiving if you don't get a warm reception. Within the past couple of weeks there was a post over on the C1/C2 section about tracking down and contacting a previous owner. Turned out that he had to sell the car due to a very nasty divorce, and the mere mention of the car brought up painful memories. Not every sale was a pleasant experience.
