Yo,
I am looking for a aluminum water pump for a 1971 BBC. Edelbrock makes one with a 3/4 inch pilot shaft for 71-74 Vette. Has anyone had success using the water pump with a 5/8 pilot shaft or know of any other manufacturer that produces the 3/4 pilot shaft version in aluminum. Any help would be appreciated.

Why not use the correct edelbrock pump? I've had one on there for years and never had any problems. Excellent quality.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably use the Edelbrock pump. However I have access to an original style 5/8 pilot shaft aluminum water pump. Cheap! So if there were an easy fix to use this style I am up to suggestions is all. I would imagine that if the water pump pulley were changed to 1970 version that would work as well.

Any opinions on this issue would be great.

Yes, I think if you swap the pulley and fan you could use a 5/8"shaft pump.
