Default Exterior Paint-Thanks to a Forum Member

Several weeks ago I posted a note re difficulty in finding spray cans of exterior paint for my Corvette. I could not find them at Carlisle last year and they have not been listed in vendors' catalogues for years. I was contacted by a Forum member (lbell101) who offered to mix some up for me. I ordered two cans and they arrived today. Thanks Larry! (I might add that he went through some hoops to get HAZ MAT materials across the Canadian border.)

I also bought paint from Larry a while ago. I was searching for body paint in a can to spray my spre tire tub when he answered my post. Great match, good product, fast shipping. Thanks again from me Larry..

Thanks Paul for the good words, pics and the business!
I was just wondering if the paint had made it your way yet. I figured it would take longer through customs. The Canadian Hazmat thing is a good thing as I can now ship there whenever I want to - hopefully no more hassles.
I'm glad it's working well for you!

Thanks!

Larry

PS: Hi Eddie, thanks!

I never heard further from the fellow in Hawaii re his rear sway bar either. I presume he is enjoying that purchase.

That's great to know Paul. Color match is always my biggest worry in long distance transactions. There's so many factors that can result in a mismatch but I've had surprisingly little problem with it so far. It's inevitable that there will eventually be a mismatch even just due to the factory variances but at least it's not an everyday occurance. Thanks Paul!

DesertDawg, I sent an email.

Thanks!

Larry

Hey Paul when applying the paint from a spray can did you notice if it had the orange peel, rough surface texture or is it smooth? What I did on Cali-1 is mix a batch of 50/50 rubbing compound and Meguiars Carnuba then apply in circular motion which broke down the surface without ripping up the paint then finished with 3 coats of straight carnuba and the surface was exactly the same texture as the professionally prepared bodywork. Just my added .02

David,
It has some minor orange peel. That is unavoidable with a touchup spray can. I have some 3M products that will take that out but I will wait a couple of weeks before going near the paint. I like your idea of mixing the compound with wax. I'm to give that a try!
