Side Covers for Exhaust on a 73
My dad has a 73 vette with side exhaust. There are currently covers on it right now, they are the chrome style. They need to be re chromed, due to some chipping. Now my question is, should i just get new ones or should I have these re-chromed?
Do they even make the same side covers?
I will have pics tomorrow

You can buy any one of the three pieces seperately, Or the whole thing.
The covers are about a $1000 a pair, + another $1000 for the insulators.
Go to Ecklers, Zip etc
Chroming varies, call around locally

I don't know for sure on the side exhaust covers, but the general trend is for
aftermarket reproductions to be of lesser quality than original parts. Except
for bolts and nuts, I try to keep any original parts that I can - rather than
replacing them. Even if the cost were slightly more, I would opt for re-chroming.

The Factory Reproduction Covers are $2299.99 at Ecklers. See below.
I would look into plating the old ones.

I believe the factory repro covers are made by Paragon - according to their literature from the original GM tooling. They cost around $1800 for the covers with insulators assembled.
I'm not sure how well plating the original would work, but that would seem to be the best bet...
Ray.
