Default fixing drivers side mirror...window ????

okay I took of the inside panel...now to get to the mirror i have to take off the inside metal skin...can I do this without having to move the glass? I don't wanna screw with the glass.....

good news is, is that i found only minor surface rust which I brushed off...
while it is off I will paint since car was originally yellow.....to it's current black.

On my '72, you can remove and tighten the mirror without removing the inside door panel. What is the problem you are trying to resolve?

my door has access holes to get to it but my window is in the way up or down.
I also wanna rust proof the door. Does the inside part of the door separate from the skin??????

yup just went through it again
first off...don't remove power window setup....PITA to put back in....

the rail for the window in the up or down position is in the way of the mirror bolt that is most forward...the mirror bolt that is aft is covered by the window...

can't get to it.....i was hoping this would be simple....i guess i should know better by now

I went to take my mirrors off ('78 Sport Mirrors). It also seems that the bolts are covered by the glass. What did you do to get to the bolts?

I've done this job a few times on my 77. I have to remove the window and unbolt the vertical track to get to the nuts on the studs that hold the mirror in place. One you have the door panel off (the inner door metal skin is not removable) its not too difficult. Good luck.
