My 81 sits in a heated garage. Unfortunately, there is a 77 down the road for sale that has sat outside all winter. :cry

Moral to the story: If you want to hog the garage with your stuff, invest in a good ice scraper and a warm pair of gloves. [/QUOTE]

I bought my house in '87; there is a '78 Silver Anniversary that has sat in the same place, along-side a small house on a two-lane road, since I moved-in...and it REALLY doesn't look in ' that-bad ' of a condition!!!
I go past it EACH & EVERY DAY!!!
One day, I saw it sitting up on blocks, figuring the tires/wheels were stolen;
the next day, it had 'stickers' on the OEM aluminum wheels...
Everyone I know would like to buy it, but, apparently, nobody actually 'lives' AT the house; I've never seen another car, or any 'people', there...

Default Anyone keep her outside in the Northeast?

Friends, I currently have a '63 and will be moving to a situation where I will need to keep my everyday car outside (the '63 and the wife's car go in the garage). I was thinking a nice, moderately priced C3 (with snow tires int he winter) might fit the bill. I do think all vettes should be garaged, however its just not possible in my case.

Anyone have any suggestions/opinions as far as rust proofing the chassis to make the best of the potential situation? I realize I should just buy a normal car, but heck, life is too short.

Thanks!
Jordan

Buy the wife a heavy winter coat, and an 'remote' starter. She'll be able to start her car from the house.
Put the Vette in the Garage.
My 81 sits in the garage.
My wife's 2000 BMW is in the driveway !!!
Best of Luck !

if you consider maryland northeast, then yes, covered in a car cover and tarp
We have no garage, and even if we did my parents cars would be in there

I think garaging a daily driver is a PIA. Years ago we had a house in the city with only one garage. We used it for our DD and it made a real mess in the winter. You park the car inside after it's been out in the slush, snow and salt?? All the slush & snow would melt over night, leaking all over the floor. There were big clumps of ice & slush on the floor that fell off the underside of the car making a real mess. Almost like the car had diarrhea!

But I would never park my Vette outside, summer or winter.

Me: Honey, I want to buy a Vette.
Her: Where are you going to keep it?
Me: In the garage.
Her: Where are you going to put your truck?
Me: In the garage.
Her: Well, ok, get the Vette, but my car better be cleared of snow in the winter when I go to work.

Moral to the story: If you want to hog the garage with your stuff, invest in a good ice scraper and a warm pair of gloves.

Well my car sits outside under a car cover on the drvieway. My hubby parks his mustang in the garage. So far this winter it has held up very well - due to the car cover I have. If I had a choice I would want to park her in the garage!!! :blueangel:
