PRAISE! Good service from Bowtie Overdrives
I guess it's easy to bash a vendor when there's a problem. But how often do we take the time to say (or even read) something positive?
I know a lot of folks have had told of issues with Bowtie's after-sale support, so I just wanted to balance the scales a bit. I'm going to swap my original carb back in soon, and I need to put the TV Made EZ linkage on the carb. But I lost the little template that's used to drill holes in the throttle arm. I made a call to BTO, and despite the fact they no longer use this particular linkage, they managed to dig one up for me (along with the drill bit). And the printed up a set of instructions, which are no longer available on the website. They only charged me a very nominal amount.
All this happened quickly, professionally, and politely.
So I say a big THANK YOU BTO! :hurray:
See...it's nice to be nice once in a while... :seeya

Glad to here someone say nice things about a vender. I have had a lot more good experiences than bad ones, as do many of you. Bow tie did a great job for me as well.

Okay, Okay... Uncle!
I will add that BTO did send me a new governor to help with my shift points. That was very nice of them.
The lesson that I learned with BTO applies to all mail-order companies. When you do have a problem, they're not right there like a local shop. I just didn't realize how important this was -- until I had some problems.
My transmission is not something I want to start pulling out & freight ship across the country for BTO to fix the leaks. I just didn't think through all of these possibilities... it was my bad.

Is your tranny leaking? Mine leaked like a sieve when I first got it. Had to have it resealed locally ($350). And it still leaks a bit.
But I'm not mad at Bowtie -- there are several things that could have caused it. Especially by the goofballs that installed my unit.

Mine had leaks in front, around the pan, at the drain plug (cracked inner seal), at the speedo cable & out the tail too.
I fixed the pan, drain plug, and speedo cable so far. I'll be taking it to a shop for the front and tail leaks. But, BTO said they put this transmission in a vehicle and road tested it, which they do with every transmission, and it didnt leak.
See there I go again :banghead: ... did I mention they sent me a governor! :)

Mine was exactly the same. Go figure. I mean it leaked EVERYWHERE! The pan, the front seal, the rear seal. I'm not sure about the speedo seal. After I took it to a tranny shop, it only leaks a little out the speedo seal. But believe it or not, the leakage has tapered off with time. Once again: go figure. Maybe half a pint a year. Just enough to be annoying.

Anybody got 2 cents to add to this thread?

No leaks here, not the same for my TH400 that I replaced the pan gasket at least 6 times through the years.
