What are your thoughts on a Sleeved Cly in a Blobk
I have a line on a Fully machined ready to build 454 4-Bolt Gen IV block that has been re-sleeved and pinned in the #8 Cly. I can get it at a very good price. I have been told that a sleeved cly is no big deal. Is this true? Thanks

I sleeved engine is a stronger engine, in most cases. :yesnod:
Most local racers take a brand new block and sleeves every cylinder. He holds 3 world records, hard to arguee with that. :D

You'll here all sorts of stories on this. I have talked to people that say that cylinder never ran right again, or the motor runs better with sleeves. I think it has more to do with the machinist than the sleeve. If the sleeve isn't installed correctly, it could be a big headache. But if done properly, it shouldn't be any different than if it was cast that way.
Remember most all aluminum blocks are sleeved. it can't be that bad.

442 is correct it all depends on who installs the sleeve's. If put in correctly there is an interference fit. If you feel confident of the person that put it in then I would say go for it and please make sure all the cylinders are the same size. :)

I agree with 442 and Shake,it has everything to do with the machinist performing the work. One of the local racers I know is running a 454 with 7 sleeved cylinders with no troubles.

I run sleeved blocks all the time. No problem.

No problems if done correctly. As a side note as the 60/70s get further away, more cars with original blocks get sleeved. I know a guy with a Boss 302 Mustang that has 8 sleeves, but the original block. It makes a huge value difference on an otherwise perfect car. (worth less w/ replacement block)

Gave a 72 ZR-1 one block with a hole in one cyl to forum member gdh, he had it resleeved and stroked for his 72 ZR-1 vert.
