Tranny/converter issue- diagnosis needed ASAP
i have an '80 Vette w/ an automatic. It's had a B&M 2400 Holeshot & TCI 350TH for the last seven years with no problems. Just recently, the car developed a severe shaking problem, so I had my friendly, local (& reputable) Vette shop check it out. Turns out the converter died, so I had them put in another 2400 holeshot. They had just finished it up last night when I came to pick it up. However, on the drive home, I noticed it "freewheeling"- ie it would be in drive & revving past 3500 rpm but not really moving forward. Occasionally, it would finally catch and shift up hard (shift kit). I figured out it worked best to manually shift it to prevent the freewheeling, but something's obviously wrong, and I'd like to know what so I can discuss this with them next Monday when I take it back.
PS Fluid is full and still red.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like your transmission may be going. :(
When you checked the fluid, were there any metal bits in it?

They didn't knock the vacuum connection to the trans loose did they? That may cause the unpredictable "catching" Mine came off when I disconnected it from the intake, if you have somebody wiggle it at the engine you can find it on the pass. side of the trans and see if it is connected.
Hope that's it
