3.08 gears what should I change to?
My wifes 78 Camed, headers w/ sides pipes, edlebrock intake Muncie fine spline close ratio 4 speed. Had 3.70 in it I changed to 3.36, so she can stay at highway speeds with out 4000 rpms. My 75 stock L48, th400 auto, duals with cats. Has 3.08 I want more, I haven't been able to spine my tires yet :nopity what rear ratio would you all go with and still have a nice highway drive.

You might want to look for a richmond 5 speed on e-bay, have seen them for about $1k some with shifters, this will give you the same first gear ratio as a 3.70 but will keep the 1:1 final gear (5th for the richmond) as the muncie. If i had a 3.08 i think I would go that route, since I already have a 3.70 I am debating between the keislers tremec and the richmond ROD 6 speed.
DOH! Just noticed you have an auto trans, my condolences.

Go with a 3.73 or 3.9 rearend, then put in a TH200--4r overdrive transmission. With the 3.90 series you'd have lots of low end grunt and a final overdrive ratio of .68x3.90 for a virtual 2.67 final drive ratio!
You'd be pulling about 2000 rpm at 70 mph. The TH200-4r will bolt right in and only require a new rear yoke and u-joint. The TH200-4r uses the same rear yoke as a TH350, TH700-r4 and Powerglide. It is an easy swap, not much more difficult than installing a new TH400.
