Now that the paint job is finished do I clay bar it?
He finished with 3 coats of clear then buffed. It looks outstanding with only a few small swirl marks. Now what? Should I clay the car then apply Zaino wax? Clay the car, use swirl remover then wax, or just wax it? The paint job is pretty smooth now, of course, but after trying the clay bar on my wifes car I know how truly smooth paint can be. What do you all suggest? For you that have had your cars recently repainted, what did you do? Thanks!!

No clay on fresh paint unless you need to remove overspray or the like.
You don't say what color it is....but,
3M makes an GREAT swirl remover for dark colors. Meguiar's#9 swirl remover is good also.

:iagree:
No wax also. ask your painter on what he recomends on far as waiting to wax. We advise our customers 90 days, So the paint fully cures. It is still releasing solvents. No covers or bras also.

My body man tells me (30) days before cally, wax or covering. He claims today's paints dry much harder and faster than in years past.

Everything that has been already said is 100% accurate. If the paint is urethane, 30 days should be enough, but don't wax if the car's just sitting in the garage, wait longer. Also, put the car out in the sun as much as possible to help the paint cure.
And . . . YES! WE NEED TO SEE PICS!!!!!

Thanks everyone! He did put the car in the oven before doing the decals so according to him it is almost cured now. As you all suggest, I am going to wait before I put any wax on it. There are about a million things to do now that it is finally back. This weekend while out in the garage I was doing a lot of "where the heck does this go?". I spent most of those two days cleaning grills, polishing the wheels, polishing the tail lights, waxing the new emblems, polishing the new rocker panels, cleaning the wheel wells, etc...As soon as I get the new goodyears mounted the pics will be on the way. After 3 years of looking at the stress cracks, faded paint and dull decals it is a great sight to open that garage door

My painter said wait 30 days. I am not going to use the clay bar.
Just planning to use Z5 and the 3M Swril Remover when necessary. So, straighten me out!
