Dupont or PPG primer, any recomendations?
I have the vette stripped with all the paint off and I am looking for the best primer. Any help with numbers or another brand would be helpful. Thanks JesseD

All the major manufacturers have similar product lines. Use whatever brand primer and primer/surfacer you intend to use for your final paint - stick with the same brand from start to finish and you'll be assured of good results.

Jessed, The reason that more than one paint company stays in business is that they all have very good long lasting products. To help choose the system you want to use, talk to a few paint stores and choose the one that has knowledgeable personel that is the most helpful. My choice is Dupont and if you need some numbers of products, I would seal the bare glass with epoxy sealer #2640S and then if filler primer is needed I would use 1140S urethane primer-surfacer. This can be sanded smooth with 600 grit and painted over. For the tech sheets on these and other Dupont products check out http://www.performancecoatings.dupont.com You can go in the site as a visitor and click products, then chromasytem. Good Luck, Craig

It is WAY more important to use one paint system. That way you know what's compatible with what and if something does go wrong, the paint dealer can't use the "you used another brand primer, sorry claim denied". Just be sure to get the product sheets for all of your coatings. Very useful info on them like what each coating can & cannot be applied over, drying times to recoat or buff out, mixing ratios, etc.
Pick DuPont or PPG and stay with that system all the way through!!
