I was considering a universal fit aluminum radiator and I was wondering what size I would need. 81 w/AC and AT. If anyone has the dimensions of this radiator please post.

I believe the universal that "fit" is 19 x 31" in the aluminum from Summit etc. Be careful with universals - there will be some fabrication in mounts or in hose lines etc. Also, a lot of the universals do not have the side tanks for A/T's.

In all honesty a stock 4 core Modine with the shroud, clutch fan and a high flow water pump like Stewart, Edelbrock etc with a 180 t-stat will cool the S/B you have. Consider this vs the custom fitting a universal will need.

My stock radiator is a two core and it has a hole in it. I wanted to upgrade when I replace it so that I don't have any problems this summer. I figured that if I was upgrading I may as well get an aluminum and only do this once. I will be adding power later and don't want to run into cooling problems.

I bought the Griffin NASCAR 31x19 universal rad from Summit. THe fit was great. Very little mods were required.

I also did the universal Griffin- Summit part no. GRI-1-25272-X Fit in the support very well, but some mods. to the brakets were necessary. Als, ifyou have A/C, your accumulator will need to be remounted a little differently. If you can do a little grinding, cutting and drilling, it works out nicely and fits almost perfectly. Also, you will need different hose(s) since the top outlet comes out straight rather than curved likt the original. Kragen part number PA 6343966 worked for my '76. Good luck. :cheers:
