Default full coverage ins?

I have have called no less than 10 insurance companys, and none will provide full coverage on a '81. Any suggestions? It's a daily driver that I put about 10k a year on. Thanks

GEICO insures my Vette (79) full coverage. However with that type of coverage, should you get in an accident, you will get the value of a 1979 Chevrolet. This is how insurance companies see these vehicles.

I choose coverage with a "regular" insurance company because I wish to drive my car any time I want and for as long as I want, some may state that rubber bumper vettes dont hold much value but chrome bumper vettes do and they go with collector car insurance.
My opinion is that these cars are and were made TO BE DRIVEN.

A strong counterpoint to this is that if one is involved in an accident with regular insurance coverage you will not get noting but the value of a "1979 chevy" And let's not talk about theft. We own the most popular classic car with theives.... Regular insurance........collector car insurance........you still have to jump through hoops to get a decent claim with both insurance types.

Your daily driver can be stolen most have regular insurance.........and so C3 vettes can be stolen as well (easier to do.) I love my corvette a great deal but should I get in an accident, damage by some other means, or it is stolen.......it is a loss, regardless of what type of insurance coverage I have.

Just let State Farm go, cause they were charging me almost 1k/ year for everyday ins. for the vette. Been paying that for 1.5 years. Told em last week I was going to Hagerty for 280 bucks/ year with full coverage..collector ins. All of a sudden..I hear"let me check with the uderwriters for state farm".

She called back in 15 min. and said they could do it for 186 bucks every six months..said Damn, how come this was not told to me when I asked about it..when I started the ins. a year and a half ago!! WTF! Anyhow..with state farm was Ins. with agreed value at 15k, no milage limitations, no driver limitations. So check with them! Hope this helps!

:iagree: Insurance serves one important purpose; TO COVER YOUR butt! If you should get into a wreck and you are hurt (god forbid), you will have some sort of compensation. If you hit someone, they will be covered. Insurance is not auto coverage anymore, it's lawsuit coverage. The car is the least of your worries.

I am insured with State Farm. $117.14 for six months full coverage. I had to get my car appraised and a picture taken. I had no problems with them what so ever. They came to my house to take the picture.

I'm an Insurance Agent in NJ. If calling insurance agents hasn't worked try networking through local, clubs, speed shops find out from other Vette owners in your state what companies will write Vettes. It is usually more then just the car that is at issue. They look at your driving record, use of the car other drivers at the residence, your age, married/ single to name just a few of the things that can effect getting coverage. It's there you just have to look long and hard. Good luck.

I had State Farm for $250 or so a half, with no agreed upon value. Then I had Met for $230 a half with no agreed upon value. Now I have Hagerty, for $135 a year, with an agreed upon value of $14500, and no mileage restrictions.

Farm Buearu will, but it will cost you like a new one, and you will have to insure more than just the Vette with them. I have all my insurance with them, but the Vette through Condon and Skelley (their suggestion).

Were there any other caveats? Do you need a second car?

I have Hagerties right now but can only drive mine for club events and recreational. I also have to have a car for every driver in the family PLUS the corvette. I pay $173 a year for $21,000 coverage but can only drive 3000 miles a year.

I just checked with Hagerty on line, got a quote of $281 a year with an agreed upon value of $15K...the on line quote provided no details on mileage limits so I called them. Very nice conversation, however I was told that as I like to drive my car to work (on nice days only mind you) three to four times a month (It's my Friday car...weather permitting) that they could not cover me due to increased liability while the car sat in the parking lot at work. The same applies to driving the car to the grocery store, taking kids to school, etc.

Fair enough but I'm glad I called! Hate to find that out while filing a claim. :mad

I'm currently insured with USAA. It's our third car with them and I pay around $150 a year, but for collision only.

I'm interested in full coverage at an agreed upon value but don't want mileage/driving limitations.
