Whats the longest drive you've taken in your C3?
This summer will be the first where I will be able to take the 74 on long drives. I have a 600 mile trek planned for June so I will be trying to work out any bugs before then.
Anybody have any long trip stories?
26 miles is my maximum as of now :bb

Drove to Toronto and back putting about 800 miles on my vette in 4 days. Ran it at about 3000 rpm's on the way there and 3500 on the way back. Hooked up with some Toronto area guys (gdh, Motorhead, Superfast, 1bad69, grayghost, etc.) and it was one of the best trips Ihave ever taken. :cheers:

BRING LOTS OF WATER WITH YA !!
Cabin really friggin hot .. specially thge floor boards. The console also gets really hot where you lean you gas pedal leg.
I hope your car has AC ....
I enjoyed evry minute and will do it again this summer too.

Just come back from about 800 miles of driving in the Lake District (that's a National Park in the UK for those of you who don't know :) )
Fantastic driving country, winding mountain roads, no other cars, just plenty of sheep!
But it has cost me around £150 in petrol - I guess that comes out at nearly 300 bucks....
Money well spent, I'll keep telling myself that!

Cross country twice.
WA to RI, summer of 2001.
RI to WA, summer of 2002.
95-100 temps, no problems with the BeCool. 19-20 mpg. 700+ mile days. Top up to avoid the sunburn.
Only problem I ever had was a failure of the two wire plug on the alternator. Battery was strong enough to limp to a parts store and fix for less than $10. :smash:

I have taken a 3 Wood in mine, good for a 150 yards!! :lol: But seriously folks...... I drove her from Biloxi MS to Sumter SC last summer, 641 miles. This year I drove from Sumter SC down here to Panama City FL, 553 miles, for a 4 month temporary stay. I will be driving back to Sumter next Friday.

1200 miles (within a week)...
I went from Ft. Lauderdale to the NCRS show in Orlando, then to Tampa and later to Gainesville for the WJ track event and then back to Orlando and after the Winter Jam back to Ft. Lauderdale...

I bought my car in San Diego and drove it to Houston. In June. No A/C. Across Arizona, New Mexico and west Texas. It got pretty hot. The way I beat some of the heat was to take a towel and wet it, then place it across my legs. That made the trip bearable. But the worst part was driving with the windows down and the wind coming in. A lot of buffeting inside the car with the windows down.
All in all it was a good trip. No problems with the car. Descent gas milage....although almost ran it out of gas once. The engine ran cool, around 180-190. So I was pleased.

That was a fun weekend :thumbs: The vette is the most comfortable car I've ever drivin in for that long, back didn't hurt one bit.

Way back in 1975 my wife and I took a month-long trip in the 'vette. Went from Phoenix up through Colorado, Yellowstone, Glacier Park, Banff, across British Columbia to Victoria, down to Seattle (my home town) then down to Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, and (after a week in Kingman, Arizona having a rear wheel bearing replaced) back to Phoenix. The neat part of this is that we camped most of the time. We also had a smal dog with us. I built a couple of suitcase-like boxes that attached to the luggage rack, and everything went in those, so we could drive with the t-tops off. Really a great memory.

2200 miles in 28 hours by myself. Now that I'm older I can only handle sitting the racing seat for 1200-1400 miles with only fuel and **** stops That takes 17-18 hours and I'm done.
Round trip from Las Vegas to North Carolina must have been 5000 miles or so. I took my time and saw allot of things so it was three days each way

300+ miles round trip from Dallas, TX to Ft. Wapoopiea, OK - :D

When I got my 68 in 69, vette was my dayly driver for two years, summer, fall, winter, spring, rain, sleet, snow, slush, etc...drove to Indianapolis for the Indy time trials, drove to NYC, drove to West Point, NY, got married in Kingston, NY, drove the vette to get married, and drove it on the honeymoon...since frame off resto, been driving all over Ohio, Columbus, Cincy, Erie, Pa.

Well, if 26 miles is the longest trip you've driven the vette, you definitely need to get it out on a few longer ones to make sure you don't have any problems. Personally, I've had my vette on a couple 1800 mile trips and several 400-600 mile trips. But I still always carry necessary tools. Ask anyone that's met me at the Forum Cruise-In's.
