Re: Carb choice (Leo001)
Id say go with a BG speed demon carb. I have one and i love it. It looks WAY better than any other carb on the market and has the newest carb technology, the hollies and edelbrocks use old styling and just tried to spruce it up, but BG started from scratch and ran from there. I highly reccomend getting a nice unsmogged aluminum intake with a BG carb on top and go from there. :chevy

Rebuilding it myself is not an option, local shops don't seem to do much better. Waht dose Lars charge for a rebuild?, Any better than Jet?

Im not sure about price, but he is a genius when it comes to rebuilding carbs, a LOT of forum members have had theyres rebuilt by him and seem extremly happy with the quality and performance.

Any input on a carb choice to replace orignal Qjet? How about Jet proformance carbs, or Holly Avenger series?

If you want to keep the car looking fairly stock, and if you want to replace your existing carb with the least amount of cost, work and hassle, either rebuild your existing Q-Jet or replace it with a good rebuilt Q-Jet. The Q-Jet, when properly set up, will run very well. Performance is good, mileage is acceptable, and it runs reliably.
If you want to kick things up a notch, you can go wth a BG Speed Demon. These carbs do run exceptionally well. However, the square-bore design requires you to change your manifold over to a square-bore type manifold. The BG carbs also require a custom fuel line, custom throttle bracket, and the vacuum hose systems currently on your engine will need to be re-routed. The cost and level of work is quite a bit more than going with the Q-Jet. But the systems do look very nice, and they perform really well.
If you're interested in my Q-Jet rebuild services drop me an e-mail request to:

I'll send you out my standard propaganda info.
