50 Fastest Muscle Cars - Corvette has 7 !
Well, that's what I counted off this website :

Interesting that the 1973 Trans Am made it. Just think about the engins in 73. The much lower compressions and all the smog equipment. That was one heck of an engine. :yesnod:

the 73 455 SD was only 8.75:1 if I remember right, but it supposedly had an excellent set of cylinder heads on it. LS-4 in the vette was 275 net while the 455 SD was 310, quite a difference. The 455 SD is considered by many the last heavy hitter of the era.

The test is little misleading too because the older cars where tested with their stock plastic tires and the newer cars had radials, look at the MPH for the L88 compared to the Trans Am.

IIRC, it was a regular production car, in that you could order one from the factory, just almost nobody did so. Didn't some car magazine do a road-test on a ZL-1 in '69?

Was that a Pontiac or Olds eng? I had a 73 Regency 98 that i put a cam nad headers in and that thing had torq out the ying yang, I could light up the single drive tire from a stand still with no brake and have it shift into second and still be spinning while the car was just creeping forward, tons of smoke. The eng was soooooo wide it made all other BB's look like med blocks in comparison.

A friend of mine bought almost new (6 month old) a 1966 corvette 427 4 speed. That car is fast for sure. No power steering, knock-off wheel, sidepipes, light blue and never restored. The car as all the scratch from it's 38 years and 125 000 miles. The 4 speed and engine was redone along the way in stock form. It never sees the rain.
A really nice car and did I mention fast... :D
