700R4 external differences pre-87 to post-87 ?
My 82 has a tranny that appears to be replaced in 1991 as their is yellow ink writing on it that says 1991. I bought it in summer of 2002.
Are there any differences notable externally to ID if you have a pre-87 tranny vs the upgraded post-87 tranny?

I believe the pre 87 had a 27 spline input shaft and the latter was a stronger 30 spline shaft.

Dosen't the post-87 have an extra valve body or something? My tranny guy said it was better so I used it instead of the early 700R4's.
