Steering box rebuild
Has anyone ever used acklers steering box rebuild kit that changes it to 16:1? Is it worth the $300? If not who does a good steering rebuild?

I just noticed that Flaming River sells a rebuild kit - I don't know price (or anything else about it) - http://www.flamingriver.com lists it though.

Re: Steering box rebuild (brs6482)
New update on steering box....
1) Thanks for all the input and offers here (Gary)
2) I had called Van Steel today on a seperate issue and he mentioned he saw on the Forum i was having trouble with my Kit/box. I told them it wasnt the kit but that it was more me and my lack of knowledge on this issue. Well i was transfered to the tech guy who diagnosed my problem right off and walked me through the entire rebuild process. So my hat is off to VAN Steel. Great to have a vendor on here who actually monitors the forum. Definately my #1 vendor now
PS The problem was the worm gear in backwards...... :conehead

Ray,
Glad you got the box corrected. As you now know, the worm nut only goes in one way-it will fit both ways but only one works. The teeth for the rack are angle cut so they mesh with the pitman arm and can be adjusted. You also have to be sure you have 27 ball bearings in each circuit to avoid any backlash in the screw.
