I just bought a 73 L82 coupe...it has an L82 emblem on the hood, but neither the seller or I have a clue as to what it stands for...I have always been a C4 guy and now I have to learn all over again....thanks

An optional small block motor with additional horsepower. In '73, I think it was 250 hp, rather than the 190 hp L-48 base engine.

I was recently told, by a guy familiar with early C3s, that the 'early' L-82s like this one 'should' have 4-bolt blocks, steel cranks, and forged pistons; same source not sure if the older 'Pink'-rods were used, tho...

I have a 1973 convertible with the L82 engine option. In 1973 the L82 did not include badges on the hood. Someone must have added them.

Fifth Digit Code: J=350ci 190hp, T=350ci 250hp, Z=454ci 275hp
so the 5th digit of your vin should be the letter "T". :) MJ
