my windows come down ok,
but when i try and put the up i have to give them a hand,

Just did my drivers side a few weeks ago. Motor was fine, needed to remove some old hard grease on the rollers and channels, with long artist paint brush applied some white lithium grease they work much better now.

Could be a broken spring on the window regulator. It is a coiling type of spring that unwinds as the window goes up and helps to raise the weight of the window.

OK, around '95 when I bought my '72 shark, I removed the manual windows and installed power windows with the new interior....and the motors were totally rebuilt and regreased...and new sector gears..but the tracks were the same, and totally taken out and DEGREASED completely by soaking overnight in gasoline and scrubbed out with a stiff wire brush....blown dry and reassembled that way.....except for the motor and gears, and the sector gear wiped down with grease..there is NO other grease anywhere....

now 9 years later, 7 of them in Florida driven daily and parked as normal...alot in the sun....

the windows go up and down like a guillotine....

and it's true the spring is important also....and easy found in a junkyard....

Cam, keep in mind this track cleaning is nearly impossible while they are in the doors....at least not to my way of thinking....
