Valve Cover Resurrection
Here are my valve covers after I removed them from the engine.
As you can see besides being really ugly Bubba had used them as fulcrums to tighten the A/C compressor and alternator belts.
Since I was having trouble locating another set I decided to try and repair them.
I banged out the dents with a ball peen hammer. Then I used J.B. Weld like body putty to smooth out the rest of the dent. I also smoothed out some of the stamping stress lines and covered the baffle weld points.
After the initial painting I dipped the wire clips in rubber tool dip.
Here are the finished valve covers.
Wouldn't you know after I had finished the repair I found a set on Ebay. I went ahead and bid on them for a backup set and got them for $5 plus $8 shipping. I think I will make a non-stock version.
I also painted the transmission pan that I was considering trashing for one with a drain plug.
I drilled a 1/2" hole and J.B welded a 1/2" jamb nut to the inside. Then I added a Fram Quik-Drain plug.
I painted the raised letters while watching TV the other night. I know that the only person that will probably ever see it is me.

I like it. Looks like it would go perfectly on your NCRS vette. Shoot they would go nicely on my NCRS vette too. I like the tranny pan too. Its all in the details they say. Good job.

Re: Valve Cover Resurrection (Jughead)
Gator i thought I was one of the best detailers on the forum until I saw your oil pan aand then this post. Man you have one hell of a gift. Have no doubt you'll have one of the nicest C3's on the CF.
