Places to buy overdrive trans?
I'm looking to replace my TH400 with a 200-4R OD tranny. I've pulled a lot of stuff off of bowtie overdrives and I may consider going with them depending on how their stuff looks. I'm also looking for other options and places to buy overdrive trans. Any suggestions?

I would get one built locally by a GOOD mechanic, one who knows his tschit....
that may be hard to find, but the parts needed are commonly available from even NAPA....in most cases...
problem is national tranny companies is when there is a problem, they are THERE and you are....well stuck with transportation...and telephone diagnostics...

:iagree: Depending on the power you are going to put down. You might be surprised at what a GM rebuild may cost. Might even have warranty with you putting it in depending on how you bought it. Other than that, find a local guy that has a good reputation with the F-body crowd as a performance trans builder.

Re: Places to buy overdrive trans? (Buffalo Dude)
After the suggestion from Gene a.k.a. "mrvette" that I look at an O-Drive
tranny rather than change my rear end to get a more highway friendly car, I installed the 2004R from Bowties. I don't have tons of horsepower and since I use my car mostly for weekend trips the 2004R was a perfect choice. Bowties was very helpful during the install and after I learned how to "drive" with the O-Drive, I love the it! I'm not really "plugging" Bowties as much as I am the 2004R. That was just my experience with them.

427V8, golly I sure wish I knew even 50% of that information that fellow WE4 there knows, back in '97 when I did that 700 conversion...that I"m not happy with....next is a 200 and a stock driveshaft...
this next time I think I will do my own tranny, and forget having it done....

Yea those guys are nutz, I really really want to build my next tranny.
If I can do it for a reasonable cost, and have it turn out reasonably good I'll do it.
The really cool thing is that guys like Chris from Ck-performance and Bruce ae all for home builders, they are very willing to help.
Chris just published a book on the 200r4!
