pace car or silver anniversary?
HI, i have a 1978 something, i always used to belive it was a pace car and all but something come up. Ive heard people making refrences to the silver anniversary edition and was wondering if my carcould be this instead. All of the pace cars ive seen have the "Official Pace Car" on the drivers door. Mine has everything those cars have except for the official pace car on the door part.....confused? here are some pics

Alll 78 Corvettes are considered silver anniversery. There was also a silver Anniversery paint option (two tone silver). The Pace Car option consisted of black/silver paint, spoilers, silver glass t-tops, silver interior and more. Your car would be considered a Pace Car provided it has the correct serial number.
The door decals came in a box when the car was new. Some people had them installed and some did not.

THe vin is the key. There should be a 9 in the eighth position. The engine block will reflect the same number. There were a lot of imitations "created" due to the limited availability at the time. I have even seen one being sold with a serial number above 6502. When sending the seller an amail on this, they never replied. The graphics came with the car and the owner had the option of keeping them in the box or the delaer installing them. I have seen some without the graphics. The bottom line; check the serial number.
