Just bought a 73 coupe...anything I should know????
I just bought a 1973 4 speed L82 coupe for $7500. It has been repainted but the interior and engine are pretty original, and in real good shape. THe car shows 39,900 miles, and the previous owner swears that it was in storage for 21 years and the mileage is true original...is there any way to verify this?? Not that it matters shince I already bought the car. Also, is there anything I need to be aware of in terms of fixing/replacing/problems that affect this particular car??
Also, anyone want to buy a decent 86 C4 coupe (auto)? Can't afford two Vettes!!!

If it has been sitting for all that time, check all your bushings, A-arm bushings, trailing arm bushings. Check the brakes and make sure they arent leaking and are still working. Check the headlights and see if they go up and down, if they dont there are a bunch of vacuum lines that need replacing and maybe some actuators too. Lubricate the speedometer and tach cables. Change the fuel filter, just in case.

Check out Tom's web page; it has great info on 73's.
I've done a lot of work on mine so check my web page as well.
73's are great cars.
Congrates

Great choice with a '73!
Better looking front than the chrome bumper sharks, better looking rear than the rubber bumper cars. Legal true duals, cowl induction, no goofy windshield wiper door. . . the list goes on and on.

Congrats on the purchase :D , Sometimes its hard to verify an original low mileage car. mine only had 47k on it when purchased, which I was kinda skeptical of, and it had a similiar story to yours of sitting in a warehouse for a long period of time. Things that I found that made the mileage make sense were that all the smog equipment was intact, when I changed shocks I removed the originals and they were still working, I recently changed the water pump and the date code on the original was from 72 (mine was an early 73), and all the wear and tear looked about right. I think you'll enjoy the 73 a lot more then the 86, deffinitly draws more attention.
Gee sometimes I fail to notice the obvious. I just saw your from my town, would love to take a look at it sometime or I could bring mine by. There's lots of vettes in this town if you haven't noticed.

PICS! Cough Choke Wheeze....
At any rate, I think you bought one of the best years made. I love the 73's. Before driving, I'd check the brakes, especially the rubber lines that go to the calipers. I'd also check the calipers themselves for leaks. Flush out all the fluids, coolant, oil, brake fluid. I'd also inspect all the vacuum lines. Other than that, you should be good to go.
Enjoy.
