Did I get ripped?
Is this an Edelbrock polished RPM intake, for standard pattern heads?
I can't find a part number or the Edelbrock name anywhere on the intake. The only thing that I can see is "Made in China" :mad I think this is one of those knock-off intakes you see on eBay.
Also, what's with the slotted holes in the center?
Before I jump to conclusions, I just wanted to confirm if my suspicions are true.

Looks like an Edelbrock knock off. The stamping MADE IN CHINA is the biggest giveaway. I believe there was a recent post where there knock offs are mentioned. As far as you feeling ripped......well you wont know that until you put the manifold to use. Edelbrock manifolds have EDELBROCK on the manifold and latter manifolds have MADE IN THE USA badging on them.

Perhaps this intake will work as well as an Edelbrock, maybe not. I wanted an Edelbrock for peace of mind, because I've never had a problem with Edelbrock.

Not to add insult to injury, but consider that it was an American company staffed by fellow Americans who offered hard cash to an offshore firm to produce these manifolds. It was an American company staffed by Americans that imported them and an American company staffed by Americans who now offers them for sale.
Are the offshore companies the bad guys?
Would an American company hesitate to make replica goods that were to be sold in China to compete against Chinnese goods? I think not. :bb

I would be totally upset if I bought one thing only to find out it is something else totally when I get it home to look at it. I believe I would try contacting the seller and see if they would work an exchange or refund.

I would say you got ripped off. That doesn't mean that the intake you got is inferior. If you paid for an Edelbrock and expected to receive an Edlebrock, then I would return it for a full refund including shipping (both ways). There are a lot of people on Ebay selling Professional Product's intakes. There is a price difference between them and Edelbrock. As for performace, I have no idea of which is better. I almost bought one myself. I am changing over to vortec heads and they make an intake for them. I looked for quite sometime, but eventually I was able to find a GMPP aluminum vortec intake at a decent price ($60 more than the Professional products).
Call them or email them with your complaint. If you cannot get it resolved and you paid by credit card, call your credit card bank and let them reverse the charge. Keep the intake until the company you bought it from pays you to ship it back. If the charged you $25 to ship it, charge them $25 to send back.

Re: Did I get ripped? (comp)
Good point! It may indeed be a fine product. I have purchased a number of "genuine" GM Restoration Parts that were made in Taiwan. The key lies in the quality standards set by the importer and met by the manufacturer, wherever. I suspect the intake in question will give very good service after the Made in China label is out of sight when installed. If it was a mis-representation at point of sale that is another issue. The poster has not stated the circumstances of the purchase. It could have been a local garage sale. We do not know at this point.

I stand corrected in regards to assuming it was from Ebay. There has been so many postings in regards to Ebay that it was stuck in the back of my mind. The poster never mentioned if the item came in a box and how that was labeled. A chinese intake in an Edelbrock would show serious intent to mislead someone.

Re: Did I get ripped? (Sling Blade)
Go ahead and run it. If not satisfied, I have a edelbrock manifold that I purchased back in Dec 2000 when I was rebuilding the engine on my 79 vette. It is an Edelbrock #3701 manifold w/EGR. I put this on my rebuilt engine and I took it off because I found out that the 2101 was cheaper. It has never been on a running engine and it is still in its original box. You can purchase an EGR block off plate. I will GIVE IT TO YOU. You will have to pay for shipping.

Re: Did I get ripped? (Sling Blade)
I believe the slotted holes on the underside are for the heat riser exhaust path. At cold idle, the heat riser on the right side exhaust manifold diverts exhaust back up thru the intake and under the carb and over to the driver's side. These exhaust gasses heat the intake and carb quickly, allowing the choke to open back up sooner. On old intake manifolds, you'll often see these passages nearly blocked off completely from years of grime and soot build up. :conehead
