Default Paging Paul67

Hey Paul I'm compiling a shopping list for the "to" stock conversion.
First I need a link to Paragon. Besides the oil filler I need the following;

1. oil filler have bolts to hold it down?
2. coil 'holder" and bolts
3. what kind of plug did you put in the front of the intake, the emissions hole. I have brass 4 sided plugs in the Torker and Summit has those chrome allen "flush" style plugs but what goes in there?
4. No power brakes so what kind of stock plug goes to the back of the carb? The Eldebrock has a bolt sticking out the back.
5. The intake bolts on the car are gross what kind of bolts did you use. home Depot variety?
6. The stock gas line I hope to get locally and order the gas filter. does it have any hold downs that attach to the block or is it just held down at the fuel pump and fue inlet to the carb?

Please post some intake photos.

thanks,

David

David,
You have been given the link to Paragon already. I'll try the other questions using a 1966-67 #3890490 intake sitting in my basement. Keep in mind there was a significant change in emissions equipment configuration between 1967 and 1968. The 1967 crankcase breather tube ran from the back of the block to underneath the air cleaner. The PCV was attached to the oil filler tube and vented via a rubber hose into the passenger side of the Holley. In 1968 the PCV was located in the valve cover as was the crankcase breather tube. You may have noted that my valve covers have no holes whatsoever.

1. The oil filler tube is a press fit. I nudge it in with a 2 x 4 cushion sitting on top and a good whack with a hammer to the wood.
2. You can see the coil bracket in the pic. All bolts on top of the manifold are 3/8" but of varying lengths.
3. I do not have an emssions hole at the front of the intake. In the pic you will see the temp sensor, the heater hose spout and the water pump bypass spout.
4. The vacuum plug (pic again) at the back of my intake (not the carb) has two outlets; one for the Powerglide transmission and the other for power brakes. If you are referring to the intake I would imagine a solid brass plug would do fine with a four-speed and not power brakes.
5. My intake bolts are incorrect in that they are all stainless. I do not like rust. We have a speciality fastener shop in town where I get them for about $0.50 each. I believe they are #5 strength but that is not a real issue for an intake. They are well tucked in with Permatex 2 and do not leak.
6. The gas line is not attached to the frame. If fact a little flex along its length reduces the possibility of metal fatigue and fracture.

If I have misunderstood your questions do let me know. Aside from the intake in the basement I am working from archived pics as my car is in storage. So the variety of pics is limited.

You can see the PCV and crankcase breather hoses in this pic.

I'm stumped. That looks like a fuel filter but I do not have one like that on my car. Sorry....

I checked references and here goes. That is a 1968-69 AC GF-432 fuel filter. From Richard Prince's book:

"Only those 1968 and 1969 Corvettes equipped with a Rochester carburetor utilize an external fuel filter. When so equipped, the filter is a metal body design manufactured by AC. It is silver colored with an AC logo and GF-432 silk screened on in red ink.

The filter is located on the right side of the engine above the fuel pump. It is held by a silver cadmium plated stamped steel bracket. The bracket is secured to the pivot for the AIR pump. Two steel lines come out of the top of the filter. The larger of the two is the fuel feed to the carburetor and the smaller is the fuel return line to the tank. The fuel return line has a short length of rubber hose connecting it to the chassis fuel return line. In 1968 small tower clamps secure the hose and in 1969 spring clamps hold it."

To illustrate (large file, Copyright Dr. Rebuild):

Hope that helps.
