Default Vented or Non-Vented?

1981 Gas Cap is it vented or non-vented. I had the Vette parked outside so I could do some work on it and late tonight this a very stronge smell of gasoline. Went to check it out and found fuel leaking carb gasket or seal. :mad I think I have the un-vented locking gas cap... I unlocked it and relieved the pressure from the gas tank. :yesnod:

If by unlocking it you relieved the pressure then I would think it's non vented. The original should be non vented also. Craig

I'm pretty sure all cars ~75 (possibly even earlier) and up were required to have a non-vented cap.
