Fuel tank gasket/O-ring???
Need some help... have a dumb question...... I removed the fuel tank on my '79 and am cleaning it out... painting... etc.
There is a section on the top of the tank where the lines enter and the the gas cap is located. This circular section can be removed to gain access to the inside of the tank. I'm assuming there is a gasket or O-ring of some sort that fits under this removable section.
Does anyone know where I can pick up one of those, or what it's even called?? Tried looking online at the local autozone and oreilly but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

That Oring should be available at the local parts store.
I think I've even seen them in the dumb "HELP" rack in the parts store.
gas tank sending unit Oring - usually comes with the metal ring, also.
oopsy - looks like that year is different from what I'm explaining.
Do you have a picture ?

It's virtually identical to that pictured in corvettefaq.com's link on the topic.
See here: http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/sending/sending.html (6th pic down)
If nothing else, I suppose I can make one like he did.
