A Funny High Pitched Noise From the Drivers Rear Tire
Does anyone have any idea what would be making this noise ??
It is high pitched and it comes in and out (not constent noise) as I go faster and slower. It seems in time with the rate at which the 1/2 shaft is turning.
The brake pads are near 80% intact, and I don't see any metal rubbing on the front or rear of the rotor.
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED .....
Thanks
Bill

Bad u-joint on the halfshaft. Look for red, rusty powder on the ends of each u-joint. Even if you don't see any powder residue, pull the halfshaft and inspect the u-joints. They are not expensive or difficult to replace. The alternative is a broken u-joint which causes lots of damage when the half shaft lets go, and that is very expensive to replace.
