Obviously, some of us make more or less money than others......but I've seen a lot of 'super' nice rides with some major $$$ spent in mods......or better yet, some of you (no names) have Multiple Vettes !!!

What gives ? ....do you guys invest more in your vette than your house ???

Kind of silly to be "poor" for a car. It is a car, not a trophy - drive it every day rain or shine. In any case, I don't consider a Corvette an "investment", it is an expense, an expense I enjoy.

I buy tools more than cars/parts.

I paid $4k for the 75 ... $1200 for the 70 chassis/rear clip.
Another hundred here .. hundred there ... nothing compared to what the mortgage runs.

The wife thinks I spend more on the vette than the house, but it is
more attention - not $$.

Well i save alot by doing all my own work,theres a big chunk right there.The wife and i both work and she makes more then me,but we spend more in the house then the vette.Like said above ,this car is a weekend driver i wont spend a ton into it.I had a show car before and ill never do it again.(lots of cash spent)

the multiple Vettes in our household comes from the fact that I had a Vette and Hubby had a Vette before were married.. we got married, therefore.. 2 Vettes! :D

I am pretty sure the house is worth more than both Vettes and the Camino combined! :jester

I blew way way too much money on the engine and trans.

Then I couldn't take it any more so now I'm going as low buck as possible

None of the above. I sunk more than I thought into this engine. After that it's all gravy. Interior & rear suspension will seem like pennies.

I do most of the work myself. Alignment, painting and some engine work was done by paid professionals. Or so I thought they were.

I also work two jobs to support my addiction. :D

I try not to spend ANY money on my vette, because it seems like if I let myself spend one dollar.... I blink and it's one thousand! :lol: MJ I do a lot of daydreaming and not too much spending.

None of the above. I have just been wise and bought and sold and traded until I got my keeper Vettes. I don't owe a penny on them.

I look at them like a 401K, except I can drive and enjoy them.

I waited and I saved. I am fortunate that I did not put myself into any debt for the vette.

So far I have gotten by with relatively minimal expenses and have done all the work myself. I shopped for 2 years until I found the right vette (southwestern vehicle = no rust) at the right price.

During this time, the wifey was in school too, so that put a halt to any impulse buying. Im pretty happy with the way it has gone done so far. Now bring on some decent weather-damn!!!!

Paid $6,200 cash for mine and invest about 70+% of each paycheck into it every pay period.

I seem to spend about 5% of it's value every year just to keep it stock ! I regard it as a hobby...much like collecting stamps or coins I guess...except I can drive it !!!!!!
