You can NOT build a competitive vintage race Corvette for $50K, not to mention the value of the history, also consider this is a real live Greenwood customer car. This car is a bargain!! ...redvetracr

I couldn't agree more.
Of course the current bid is $50,000... And the reserve hasn't been met. I'd be willing to bet that the reserve is three to four times higher than that. I heard that Herb Kaplan's old '69 L-88 sold in the $125,000-$150,000 range a year or so ago and it wasn't anywhere near as nice as this car (again, from what I heard).
I'm going from memory here (and you're more in touch with the vintage race scene than I am anyway), but wasn't this car originally ordered as an L-88?

Wow, that is a really cool race car. I don't want to be overly critical but did you see the welds on the lower a-arm mounts? Yikes, it looks like a 3rd grader welded it. Oh yeah, that is absolutely the WRONG way to safety wire a bolt (the a-arm bushing bolt). Otherwise a cool car.

it looks as though the channel in the front of the crossmember has been filled in a good bit of an inch! Its no longer the same stamped sheetmetal thats on my 75... but a curved deal

I was looking at the front ends welding as well...

Otherwise, it looks like they were trying to stiffen up the front part of the chassis...... hmmmm......dunno .....maybe REDVETRACR might know ?

"stick welded" and (most likely) crashed and repaired more than once. Old original race cars were NOT the show pieces they are today.
Stan, I know someone who is friends with Denny Long who I have been told is having a vintage race Porsche prepared for the `04 season!! I will ask about the origins of this car.. ...redvetracr

ZD, you're right. I didn't even notice the lip on the crossmember. They definitely added some metal there (probably for strength).
