Default V.I.N. rivets

Can someone show me a picture of the Rosett style VIN rivets.

I.... I mean a friend needs to reattach a VIN plate to his Corv.... I mean Camaro. ;)

And don't pipe up with that "don't you know that's illegal" crap either. I know it is already, so step down off you soap box cause I don't want to hear it!

Here you go, Mike. :seeya
You can see the one on the right OK - but I can get a closeup later, it's that's not enough.
( I wonder how much this piece of scrap windshield frame is worth {clean vin} )

a place called trim tags is who you need to call they sell the rivets for $20, they come in the mail in a brown paper bag.
http://www.trimtags.com/faq.html

I have no idea why I would know this either.

Humm the price has dropped. read the page myself, now only $12 for two!

Well they don't look to hard to Fab up if required.

But I've got a question out to the trim tags guys to ensure that they are the right rivets that I want. Sometimes its easier to buy something than to take the time to create it.

Thanks, Dave and 442olds.

I think Dr Rebuild sells them too. C3s are bad to rust out the windshield frame. Sometimes you need new rivets to fix a crash.

Thing that's so funny to me is the ease with which those things can be swapped, you got a tag from say a GTO, just glue it on a Lemans, and you got a goat..... now if you want say a '70 LT1 car, you can make that from any old L48.....or whatever....

funny part is, IF you are careful, you most likely will not even need the rivits, as all the steel is gone behind, just glue the whole damn thing on the 'new' car...paneling adhesive or RTV will work nicely...

To use them improperly can be done to be sure, but you still need documentation and a VIN tag from a wreck to create a clone, if you look hard enough nobody does it all perfect. I guess that is why these horrible wrecks show up on Ebay and bring big bucks. The margin is there for some cars, but the sum of the parts approaches the value of the car for some of these clones.
