Default Shifter advice for "77 Coupe

I would like to "upgrade" the shifter on my 1977 4 speed "Vette coupe. Can you recommend one? I would like to be able to install it myself - so simplicity would be good.

Why not just rebuild and freshen up the factory shifter? Kits are available for a reasonable price to refurbish it to like-new condition.

Otherwise, Hurst is probably your only other option.

I tried to get my original shifter to not rattle and to be a little more precise. After the third try I tossed it in the used parts bucket and installed a hurst Competition Plus. I should have done it 15 years ago. If you're not worried about keeping it stock go with the Hurst. You won't be sorry. You can go on Hurst's site and read the installation instructions so you can gauge the difficulty. I did mine in 1 day. Good luck.
