Where to find thermoswitch for elec. fan?
I searched the archives, but cannot seem to find a reference to which thermoswitch will work with my new elec. fan. There are several discussions in archives about said switch, but none to its origin. I visited two auto parts stores today and dug through several boxes of elec. fan switches from different vehicles, but found none that would fit in the passenger head or intake manifold.
Does anyone have a part # or cross-reference to which thermoswitch will work with a SBC?
Thanks in advance,

Dewitt sells them for electric fans. You may be thinking of the temp switch that operates the temp gauge. These are two separate switches. These are the ones some forum members have had a hard time in calibrating with their gauge.

Re: Where to find thermoswitch for elec. fan? (Older Than Dirt)
I'm trying to find a "generic" switch that will turn on my elec. fan at a designated temp (one that mounts in the cyl. head or intake manifold).
I already have a working temp. sender.

Dewitt has a
185 on 165 off
195 on 175 off
Both are 3/8" pipe thread. They also come with a 1/2" adapter. I have mine located in the intake and it works perfectly.

Thanks. I went to their site after reading your post, but I don't need all the "stuff" that comes with it. I just need the switch itself. I'm hoping that someone has a GM (or other) part # or year/make for such a switch. I had the parts guy check for 80's Vette & 90's Camaro applications, but he couldn't find anything.

Hmmmm...I didn't know that. If all else fails you might call him and see if he will sell just the sender alone. You never know, he might just do it. :yesnod:

summit and jegs both sell them. I have a electronic box that hooks up to my coolant sensor and is adjustible. It was pricy, but I will look up the site if you are interested

Have the GM parts people check for 1979 Corvette auxiliary electric cooling fan switch, passenger side cylinder head at the back.

Try 89 350 IROC "secondary fan switch" I bought one last week at Advance for a TPI in a 71 truck project. Also, when I had an IROC I bought a lower temperature one from Jet products.

Here is a part #FS103. This is actually a ford switch. I believe the temp range is on @207 and off @190. Oh yea this is a napa number there echlin line. I could not use in the head because of headers. It is a 1/2 inch pipe thread so it will screw right in.
