Torque on Lower Ball Joint side bolts......70 ft lbs is this correct?
Vetters,
Question, I am torquing all the nuts down now. Correct me if I am wrong. Lower ball joint nuts (the 2 on the side of the control arm) is the correct torque really 70 ft lbs? I am torquing to 70 and it sure feels like alot of torque. I feel like I am going to break something. What do you think?

Re: (Jughead)
The side bolt torque isn't listed. I think the directions that came with the balljoint listed those specs. There are only two torque listings for balljoints. Upper stud nut 50ftlb & lower stud nut 90ftlb. I can't say for sure but 32ftlbs comes to mind.

Well I broke a bolt at 45. So thats not it. I could not find it in the manual either. I torqued them to 40 ft lbs. Hope thats not to much.

Yikes!! No, it's 25 ftlbs on those 2 side bolts and on the top 3 as well. 70 is wayyyy too much! Wonder what that translates to in psi of tension on that little tiny bolt.....

Edit: My originals were all riveted which I ground and drilled out. Rebuilding services will rerivet them for you, but the supplied bolts will do just fine.
