Edelbrock Performer RPM 7101 intake manifold - will it fit?
Will Edelbrock Performer RPM 7101 intake manifold fit under the hood of my stock 79? I already have an Edelbrck 1406 squar bore carb and I'm using an adapter plate with the spread bore intake. I bought the lowest profile air cleaner edelbrock had and I've got some hood interference but it does shut. Anyway, I'm hoping that using a performer intake manifold with the performer carb and not having the adapter plate will get me low enough to be without interference. Can anyone verify this setup or recommend one? Edelbrock has a little note saying the 7101 will not fit under a vette hood. But I don't see why it wouldn't and I believe I've read where other people have done it.

I had a performer rpm and a holly 750 with a moroso drop base air cleaner with a 3 in filter under the stock hood with no rubbing but it was close. The hood I have know is 1 in higher

Interesting. I have the Edelbrock 1406 carb. I guess the problem is a drop base filter that fits over edelbrock carbs? Has anyone found one or made one?

In a word, Yes. I bought a Mr. gasket air cleaner with a 2" filter from Adanced Auto parts and bought a 2 1/4" drop base (to replace the base from the Mr. Gasket air cleaner) from Summit racing. I also have an Edelbrock 600cfm carb, and the 7101 manifold and the hood closed with no problem..........Ironically, l also have a 79 vette.

I ran the RPM on my old motor with 1-1/4" drop base and 3" filter and had no problems under the stock hood on my '77

I purchased K&N base plate #85-3545 $24.39 Drops 7/8" below carb flange. This is the part I purchased. This base plate has a recessed area on its bottom to clear an electric choke carb(if you have one) Call Summit 1-800 230-3030 (#4 on phone/ 6482 direct extension) ask for Gomez.

Thanks again Oldguard. I have an electric choke on an Edelbrock 1406 carb. What diameter is that K&N base plate?
