Default Question on Cam Break in.....

There have been several threads and polls recently about proper cam break in and cam failures. What about new cars? Car manufactureres used to encourage a 500 mile "break in period" in the manual, but the last couple of new cars I have bought (GM's) did not make any mention of a break in period.
What is the difference between a new car cam and an aftermarket cam that you have to break in the aftermarket?

Mark

I know that alot of new cars are running roller cams so break in is not important. As for flat tappet cams after about 20 minutes they are seated.
