Re: ebay mess (NOTHIN'LIKE'A'69')
I have no idea what that is! Probably a 79 convertible conversion. Probably used a 68's vin on the 79's birdcage. Possibly a merging of two cars due to wreck or fire. Or it could be the work of some kind of chop shop and was stolen and re-vin'ed. I'd stay well away from that POS.

That's plain messed up........and weird:
"THIS VEHICLE WAS POSSIBLY MANUFACTURED AT A GENERAL MOTORS PLANT OUTSIDE THE U.S.A."
......I can 100% assure you that it wasn't "made" in New Zealand......... :)

Re: ebay mess (NOTHIN'LIKE'A'69')
looks like they may have put 68 vin tag on that thing. 81/82 may not have had a title, or title may have been a salvage...almost impossible to sell a car with salvage title, therefore, they may have gotten a junk 68 just for the vin tag and clear title, and voila.....claim the car is a custom.

Re: ebay mess (81' Corvette Guy)
THIS VEHICLE IS UNIQUE IN THAT THE V.I.N. ON THE PILLAR FRAME IS 194678S402773 WHICH MATCHES THE SOUTH CAROLINA TITLE
Just as it should.
AND IS REGISTERED AS A 1968 YEAR MODEL.
Something wrong here. Maybe the birdcage was replaced as someone said. It is in sad disrepair.
