I just had County Corvette in west chester, pa put a new power antenna in my 79. I think they do it all from the back of the wheel well. Anyway they DID NOT drop my exhaust or inner fender well? They did have to route the new antenna cable up to the new radio in my car. Excellant workmenship.

Don't let Bubba touch your antenna man....don't do it! Never heard of dropping exhaust to change antenna mast? But, too..you used to not here of Cadillac have to remove the top half of the engine to change out a starter!

Got news for that guy's last post! We changed the power antenna in my 78 this past winter and believe me you do have to drop exhaust! Even says so in the Chiltons book.Once its dropped out of the way its not to bad.

I have a power antenna on my 74, and it took about 5 minutes to remove. I doubt the later models are much different. My exhaust isn't stock though...

I replaced mine on my 78 a few years ago and I didnt drop the exhaust, just put it on in the driveway. I dont remember it as being difficult.

Lippy:

I did my 78 and while it required patience...was not necessarily difficult. Yes, loosened the exhaust but still not a problem. Did not have to loosen the fender once muffler is out of the way.

Get up under the driver side rear of the car and look to see if you can get at the power antenna assembly.

If you can without doing any exhaust loosening, your good to go!! This is a job that I will also do as my power antenna is stuck in the up position.
