I didn't spend too much money, but I did have to redo everything a trio of so-called mechanics did to my car...so now it's DIY around here! :yesnod:

No one other than me touches mine!!! Well, maybe the painter only so far. I spend enough just on parts. I can't imagine what it would cost to install all this stuff. The way I see it, if I do the labor myself, then I can justify buying more parts.

You wouldn't believe some of the screw ups I've to un-fix over the years. Now, I figure that I can screw it as well as they can. No one touches my Vette.

Not here. I do all my own work. If there's something I either don't want to do or can't do, I take it to a friend who owns his own mechanic's shop (and also owns two Corvettes himself).

Oh but I'm an ASE master tech, before you go bashing mechanics you should see some of the things we see that the so called ( I could work on cars back when they dide'nt have all this hi-tech stuff) guys have done to there cars!

wow, i hear u loud and clear. I know very little, but i have found out there are people oout there making a living do this, that know about the same or less than i do. Every time i go to the shop, i come back with more problems than i went with. and also a day to clean what they just got dirty! Plus they want payed? wow. JIM
