I have them on mine, infact I am finsihing off the install this weekend.
They cost me $120 from Summit and $200 to get coated. They fit pretty nice (you have to remove the starter and drop the steering idler arm on the passnger side (if you have AC!))
I bought a pair of "single" tube, 3" stainless side pipes made by stainless works and made the "elbows" out of 304 stainless to match up to the headers. The 3" fits nicely under the factory covers. The only thing I am not 100% happy with was that I couldnt find someone locally to mandrel bend the elbows, so they "crushed" a little on the regular bender...but I can always have them redone at some point.
Some people comment on the unequal length on the headmans, but if you look at the near $1000 for equal length stahls (without coating!!!), I will live with the slight loss in performance...and I'm sure headers plus 3" ssytem will work better the factory manifolds and 1-3/4" mufflers.
I have a mild steel system (2-1/2") with "sweet thunder" chamberred mufflers aswell I was working on...if you need ideas of size and angles of bends.
cheers
Nick

I've got em! Love em. Really only 2 choices - these or Stahl's.
I did the 2.5" inside diameter sidepipes from Stainless Works. Had my muffler shop make some connecting pieces for me. Heddman quality is good.
The sound is incredible!

Nick, i've heard about your doing your custom setup...i've always wanted to do it too. What did you do about the exhaust tips that turn down on the factory covers. are they square shaped like stock, or did you go with an oval style? and no, i do not have a/c, so fit and everything should be cool!

Nucking futs...did you have to weld on a collector, or did you have to do any other bends for the mufflers to fit?

I'm using a 3" oval tip, polished, it actually looks pretty nice in the rectangle opening. I had made up a rectangle one out of billet aluminum plate, welded it up and polished it and it looked nice...but I decided the oval looked nicer.
I should have pictures of the system this weekend (its going to be 50 degrees in NY and theres no NASCAR race..so time to do some serious work on the vette!!)
No matter what system you go with, you will need collectors to mate up to the hedmans.

Watch for burrs around the weld bead that they use to 'improve sealing'
Mine were pretty bad burr wise.
Personally I'd get shorty headers before I got those headmans again :U
It's not just the length diff I don't like the general build quality sucked, and those O-ringed flanges, what a joke

I have a set that i only use for engine break in. If you get hadman headers get the coated ones or have them coated, hedmans rust ina day or so and the steel isn't that thick.

Has anybody got any pics of these headers?
The picture on a summit page does not seem to be a correct one.
Is that a good idea to try using these headers with dynomax or pertronix universal sidepipes?

Just installed the drivers side today as a mock up. I had to take the z bar out, but didn't have to dimple a tube for it to fit...fit is darn near perfect...excellent ground clearance, good clearance away from the steering box, and very light.

Have the Hedman side exit headers installed on my 68. I had them ceramic coated, here is a pic before the body was put back on during my LT1 install. The look and sound great!
