Best C3 for an investment!
What would be the best year to invest in now, in order to see the greatest appreciation for the near future?

Re: Best C3 for an investment! (Cal Vette)
I think the 73's are underrated, for one because some do not see it as a true chrome bumper vette as the 68-72's. There are some very good improvements to the 73's and YES, it is the last of the chrome bumper vettes, even if it was just on the rear, and also last year for the stock hp before the decrese of hp.
Better chassis mounts, steel-guard-beam doors, increase of sound-deadening material. Sure minor changes, but for the better. Last year for this true body style. IMO 74-77's the rear rubber bumpers changed the style of the body. They should be C3.5 :jester

Noone really knows, and we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out, but I'm hoping the '73 will see good investment potential; since it is a one year only carry over bodystyle. Other one year styles have done very well, like '67 for instance!

Without a doubt your biggest return on your money will be with the 70-72 LT-1's. Primarily the '70 LT-1's and the '72 LT-1's with A/C due to both cars' very limited production numbers and outstanding performance. I will even go as far as to say that the '70 LT-1 will be the next '67 BB. Anyone agree?

Big Blocks are great as long as the weather is not too hot! or corners too sharp. I will take my LT-1 over a big block any time as it handles better, won't overheat, sounds "just right" and runs 13 second qtr miles when well tuned up in stock trim, is a major threat at any autocross. Another plus is the economy of parts, and operation costs. My opion from almost 20 years of Vette ownership (C2, C3, C4 and Z06-wife's car.) Car
Life magazine put it best in 1970 when it tested the 1970 LT-1 Vette (quote) forget about the LS7, the LT-1 is here now! Eric B.

Redson, a 64 is a C2. I was just wondering about C3's.

In 64, Zora got rid of the split window. There was no split window that year making 63 the only year for a split window coupe.

Re: Best C3 for an investment! (Cal Vette)
I've been a C3 nut for years. When I go to vette shows and see the girls lined up by year....I just can't help floating between 69 and 73.
Last year my eldest son (18) and I were browsing some vettes at a car show and he summed it up perfectly.
He noticed my preference and said..."geez Dad, you always have a eye for the Monroe vettes". I followed up on that comment and he told me that he thought the 68-73 vettes had extreme curvature and a beautiful smile (grille and bumper). Hummmmmm...I agree.
Now tell me that boy isn't developing a vette thing. :hurray: :hurray:
Leave it to kids to cut through all the crap and give you a honest answer.

Depends on options, but it's hard to beat chrome bumper Big Block convertibles. :yesnod:

I will cheat and have two answers. One, the last yeyar of the 427 engines in the 1969 Corvette convertible with factory side pipes make for a great car-- although prices are already getting up there. Two, I will cast my other vote for the LT-1s, particularly in convertible form. Prices are still reasonable and good cars are out there. If you haven't driven an LT-1, it's hard to fathom the outstanding performance. Once driven, once bitten by the bug to have one in your garage. The 1970 370HP version is an awesome screamer.

Re: Best C3 for an investment! (Cal Vette)
The breakdown should have been 69 - 69, 70, 71 - 72, and the others.
Since the first two have already started to takeoff I would go with the 70, although the 68 and 69s are still wise investments. It will take a while longer for the low HP chrome bumpers to move. Next on my list would be the 74 & 75 convertibles and other low production models. I wouldn't consider any others for investment purposes.

Re: Best C3 for an investment! (RC73)
I don't think investment is related to body style/year of vette
I DO think anything with a big block or cars like a '63 Z06, L 88's etc will be good collector items
